LOCATION: Edinburgh and other sites (onsite)

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: You'll be site based (3-4 days per week) but will need to flexible across various LBG locations (Edinburgh, Cardiff etc)

About this opportunity:

At LBG, we 're in the middle of one of the biggest transformations in UK Financial Services. Building energising and collaborative spaces where everyone loves to work, in the communities we serve, is a critical part in our transformation journey. We’re committed to creating the right environments so that we can go faster together and deliver better outcomes for our customers.

As part of this ‘Future Workplace’ programme, and following on from successes in Bristol, Leeds and Manchester, we're now working on exciting plans to refurbish our Port Hamilton office and create another state-of-the-art office space for our colleagues in Edinburgh.

This is where you come in! We’re looking for a property development expert who will protect LBG’s interests and provide expert SME advice and guidance for this and a number of other major redevelopment projects being undertaken in partnership between LBG and partner construction and development firms.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the third-party construction and development teams deliver to the agreed brief and specifications, whilst ensuring rigorous due diligence throughout the duration of the project.

For a job of such magnitude, we need someone who has extensive experience in property development combined with a strong understanding of construction and an absolute passion for environmental sustainability - one of our key strategic drivers.

At Lloyds, we're big on working together. We’re after someone who has enough drive to make a difference, enough insight to influence, and who embraces diversity of thinking and perspective in those around them.

What you’ll be doing:

Reporting into our Future Workplace Director, you’ll be responsible for a whole host of activities focused on Programme Management, Planning and Statutory Consents, Landlord’s Main Contractor, Defects and Quality and the Construction phase Health and Safety.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Attending the Lloyds Project Working Group and advising the Strategy Execution team

  • Understanding the agreement between LBG and the Landlord and the agreed design commitments

  • Technical due diligence of proposed developments

  • Managing financial risk

  • Stakeholder management

  • Providing early warnings, advice around any risk to delivery (time, cost or output quality) with particular focus on build standards and compliance

  • Ensuring that the LL Cat A design is in line with LBG agreements and identify issues that will impact Cat B fit out or occupation.

  • Liaise with developer / landlord to produce a CAT A shell specification to suit all parties’ requirements.

  • Positively influence landlord / developer teams to include LBG supported social initiatives where possible (i.e, Net Zero, Changing Places, etc)

What you’ll need:

You'll need to have a broad skill set with deep SME construction knowledge of Cat A Landlord Office Refurbishments and a demonstrable track record of leading roles on similar large scale projects. Other skills include:

  • Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to balance highly competing needs of a complex programme

  • The ability to negotiate effectively to achieve positive outcomes without compromising relationships or commercial position

  • Strong communication skills and able to represent LBG professionally at all times, upholding the brand and our values

  • A ‘can do’ attitude at all times, able to navigate challenges with positivity and proactivity

About working for us:
Our focus is to ensure we're inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms. We want our people to feel that they belong and can be their best, regardless of background, identity or culture.

We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, build a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer initiative. And it’s why we especially welcome applications from under-represented groups. We're disability confident. So, if you’d like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%

  • An annual bonus award, subject to Group performance

  • Share schemes including free shares

  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping

  • 30 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top

  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies

This is a once in a career opportunity to help shape your future as well as ours. Join us and grow with purpose.

At Lloyds Banking Group, we're driven by a clear purpose; to help Britain prosper. Across the Group, our colleagues are focused on making a difference to customers, businesses and communities. With us you'll have a key role to play in shaping the financial services of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you'll have many opportunities to learn, grow and develop.

We keep your data safe. So, we'll only ever ask you to provide confidential or sensitive information once you have formally been invited along to an interview or accepted a verbal offer to join us which is when we run our background checks.  We'll always explain what we need and why, with any request coming from a trusted Lloyds Banking Group person.

We're focused on creating a values-led culture and are committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve. Together we’re building a truly inclusive workplace where all of our colleagues have the opportunity to make a real difference.
