Our client, based in the Caerphilly area, is a growing player in the food manufacturing industry with ambitious future plans. They are currently seeking an Electrically Biased or Multi Skilled Shift Maintenance Engineer to join their team on the night shift. Role Overview
As a Shift Maintenance Engineer, you will operate as the sole engineer on site during the night shift, taking full responsibility for maintaining production machinery and ensuring minimal downtime. The role involves a mix of proactive maintenance, fault-finding, and reactive repairs to support smooth, continuous operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate as the standalone shift engineer, providing full maintenance coverage during night operations.
- Carry out routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a range of food production machinery.
- Quickly respond to breakdowns, performing efficient fault-finding and repairs to minimize disruption.
- Diagnose faults in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Collaborate with production staff to plan maintenance schedules with minimal impact on output.
- Monitor equipment performance and ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, reports, and documentation.
- Ensure all work adheres to food safety and health & safety regulations.
- Supervise and monitor the work of any contractors, ensuring they follow site procedures and standards.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer, ideally within a food manufacturing or production environment.
- Electrically biased or strong multi-skilled background.
- Strong technical knowledge of production equipment such as conveyors, mixers, fillers, and packaging machinery.
- Skilled in diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Able to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Confident problem-solver with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Clear communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to maintenance work.
Salary & Benefits:
£52,120 per annum (inclusive of shift allowance)- Full benefits package – to be discussed at interview
