Software Engineer – C++ / Linux / Hardware

Location: Gloucester or Guildford

Salary: £60,000 - £90,000 + 10% Bonus

A cutting-edge technology team is looking for a Software Engineer with strong C++ and Linux expertise, coupled with an understanding of how software drives hardware. This role sits within an elite group of engineers developing mission-critical products in highly secure environments, tackling complex challenges with real-world impact.

• Hands-on development – this is not a code maintenance role; you’ll be building solutions from scratch

• Small-team experience – if you thrive in a fast-moving, start-up-style team rather than a large corporate development environment, this role is for you

Please note we are NOT looking for:

• Developers focused on pure software applications rather than software-hardware integration

• Candidates who primarily maintain or test existing codebases rather than building new software solutions

• Engineers who have only worked on large-scale software teams without hands-on involvement in full-system development

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the work, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC or DV level).
