Job title: Head of Controls Strategy and Optimisation
Location: Edinburgh, Bristol or Leeds
Salary: circa £135,000 DOE
Hours: Full time
Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our above offices.

In this role you'll be at the heart of supporting IP&I's transformation; where you'll lead a team of experts with a changing purpose and role and influence our partners across the Group. You'll shape new ways of working; help us to grow at scale quickly and safely with a commercial attitude; and truly transform the way we approach Controls management in LBG.
You'll have the opportunity to drive a proactive and predictive control focussed culture across the end-to-end IP&I business, leading through collaboration and experimentation with data and insights, By using data, MI, automation, and AI, you'll drive strong customer, regulatory, and business strategic outcomes.
What you'll be doing:
- Team Building: Create a high-performing, innovative, customer-first team that partners with platforms and business across core sites, including offshore.
- Control Environment: Design, implement, and enhance a fully automated, sustainable, and scalable control environment to meet strategic and regulatory objectives.
- Customer Experience: Support the business in achieving a leading end-to-end customer experience by influencing, innovating, and inspiring change at pace.
- Risk Management: Develop effective, ongoing risk-based, data-led control testing and monitoring with risk specialist teams, Audit, and external regulators.
- Cost Management: Lead the cost of control, enabling leadership to prioritise strategic control optimisation and automation investment.
- Continuous Improvement: Own the mapping, innovation, and continuous improvement of key risks and controls across business processes and customer lifecycle outcomes.

What you'll need:
- Leadership and a solution focused: proven track record of building, leading and inspiring an engaged, diverse, solution focused and high performing team both on and offshore.
- Influence and commercial approach: experience of building automated controls which are sustainable and scalable, mitigate challenges and drive good customer outcomes.
- Risk and Control Management: Strong risk management, control by design, governance and regulatory knowledge, either within LBG or gained externally.
- Innovation/Transformation: experience of transforming and changing businesses sustainably, with a particular focus on using data to provide insights, leverage technologies, process reengineering, innovation and cost of control.
- People management: excellent interpersonal and presentational skills. This also includes the ability to work across different Group functions to ensure IP&I is represented.
- Knowledge of Insurance, Pensions & Investments: previous experience and knowledge of insurance, investments, pensions and the technology landscape will provide a strong foundation for the role and support delivering solutions and stakeholder engagement.
- Agility and growth mindset; proactively identify and resolve challenges and lead ad hoc control focused initiatives which support the growth of the business, including targeted testing. Be comfortable shaping solutions and dealing with ambiguity as you develop what good looks like.
