Contract Opportunity: Lead Application Packager – Defence Sector | Remote (with travel) | Outside IR35

We’re on the lookout for a Lead Application Packager to support a critical project within the Defence industry, as part of a broader Business-as-Usual initiative and a major Obsolescence Programme.

The Role:

You’ll be at the forefront of a Windows 11 upgrade project, responsible for assessing and transforming the current end-user application estate. This includes software managed via SCCM, manually installed apps, and applications built into base images in a VDI environment.

We're also moving strategically toward Numacent for application delivery and lifecycle management, so experience in its design, build, and implementation is highly desirable.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Design, build, test, and deploy software packages for Windows/VDI environments


• Work with tools like InstallShield, AdminStudio, WiX Toolset, or Advanced Installer


• Leverage SCCM, Intune, and Numacent to streamline and automate deployments


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, sysadmins, and QA


• Ensure app compatibility, security compliance, and resolve configuration issues


• Maintain thorough documentation and provide regular progress updates


• Drive continuous improvement and automation across packaging workflows

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Proven experience with application packaging and enterprise deployment tools


• Familiarity with Windows 11, VDI, and manual installation remediation


• Strong knowledge of Numacent or similar application virtualization technologies


• Comfortable working in fast-paced, highly regulated environments like Defence


• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Remote with some travel expected

Contract Type: Outside IR35

Duration: Initially until end of year, with high likelihood of extension into 2026
