Health & Safety Advisor


Salary – £34,520–£43,151 per annum

Hours – 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Location – Edinburgh EFW, EH22 1SX


As a Health & Safety Advisor at FCC Environment, you will advise Managers and Supervisors on all safety, health and welfare matters to ensure the Company complies with its statutory obligations, ensuring a safe working environment and maintaining the wellbeing of staff, contractors and visitors.


This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.

What will you be doing?


- Advising Managers and Supervisors to ensure compliance with health, safety, and welfare obligations

- Keeping up to date with relevant health and safety legislation and advising on any changes

- Supporting and coaching operational teams to improve health and safety standards

- Conducting health and safety inspections and audits, preparing reports, and recommending improvements

- Investigating accidents and near misses and recording findings

- Leading and participating in the development of a strong health and safety culture

- Liaising with external regulatory authorities as required

- Providing training and guidance to staff at all levels

- Monitoring performance and developing initiatives to improve safety outcomes


What are we looking for?


- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health (or equivalent)

- Membership of IOSH

- Strong knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation

- Experience in a similar advisory role (experience in the Waste Disposal, Recycling, Collections, or Quarries industry would be an advantage)

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with staff at all levels

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively

- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement

- Full UK driving licence
