The Opportunity
Stantec is seeking an Engineer to join our Rivers and Coastal Management team in Glasgow or Edinburgh. We can offer the flexibility of a balance between home and office work, which will help maintain a good work-life balance and effective teamwork.
We are fortunate to work with an excellent range of clients across the UK, and our client-focused approach has enhanced our reputation as one of the leading development consultancies in the local market. We have many public and private sector projects, including flood alleviation, natural flood management and surface water management, and residential-led mixed-use developments and major infrastructure schemes. Flood risk and the water environment are key considerations in many of these projects, and we continue to provide creative and innovative nature-based solutions which both protect people and promote sustainable development.
Your main task will be to provide robust and creative advice to our existing clients. You will have the opportunity to play an essential role in various multi-disciplinary projects, including flood alleviation, flood risk assessment and surface water drainage and SuDS strategies for regeneration, urban expansion and large infrastructure projects.
You will deliver and review technical work, such as hydrological and hydraulic analysis, flood risk reports, drainage strategies and InfoDrainage calculations.
About You
As a successful candidate, you will possess a BSc, BEng, or MEng degree in civil engineering or a related field, or you can be a qualified water management consultant. You will ideally be Incorporated or Chartered with a relevant professional body or actively working towards chartership . Your experience will encompass some or all of the following areas: surface water and foul water drainage design, the design of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and nature-based solutions, drainage network modelling using software such as Microdrainage or Infodrainage, flood risk assessment, hydraulic modelling using tools like ICM, Flood Modeller, or TUFLOW, Water Framework Directive (WFD) assessment, and geomorphology. Furthermore, you will have experience in the design of flood protection measures, from the initial pre-planning stages through to the detailed construction phase of projects.
As a consultant, you’ll also possess strong report-writing and client-facing skills and be able to work across multiple complex projects. Your passion and experience in delivering quality design solutions is most crucial to your success in this role. You will be ambitious, forward-thinking and have a desire to better your career.
We are proud of Stantec's friendly and collaborative culture, and there are many other reasons for you to be excited about joining us. We offer a competitive salary, agile and flexible working arrangements, industry-leading training, great projects, and lots more!
