They are responsible for managing administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, handling patient correspondence, maintaining medical records, and liaising with patients, doctors, and other staff. A successful Medical Secretary is organized, detail-oriented, and possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with a sound understanding of medical terminology and confidentiality protocols.

Tasks

A Medical Secretary is responsible for transcribing medical letters and reports, managing calls and emails, coordinating patient appointments, and maintaining accurate health records in line with confidentiality standards. They handle payments, provide general administrative support, and assist at reception to ensure a smooth and welcoming patient experience. The role also involves close collaboration with consultants, nurses, and administrative teams to support efficient clinical operations.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be professional, courteous, and an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing. They should have strong audio typing skills, be highly organised, and able to manage tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and work independently are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and patient management systems is required (training can be provided), along with a strong commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to relevant regulations.

Benefits

Additional perks can include staff discounts, cycle-to-work schemes, and free on-site parking.

We are looking for a dedicated and professional Medical Secretary who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment and is committed to providing high-quality administrative support and patient care.
