Senior Legal Counsel – Renewable Energy
Edinburgh (Hybrid)
£85,000 - £95,000

eNL Legal has been exclusively instructed by a major international player in the renewable energy sector, known for its longstanding commitment to sustainable development and innovation. With a legacy spanning over four decades, the company has consistently set high standards in engineering excellence and continues to drive forward the global energy transition.

The Opportunity

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a UK-based Senior Legal Counsel to become part of a globally integrated legal team, supporting operations within the Western Europe region. This role focuses primarily on legal matters relating to UK business activities and provides the chance to work independently on a national level, while collaborating closely with regional legal colleagues, senior leadership, and external stakeholders.

This is a dynamic, hands-on position offering exposure to a wide variety of legal issues and strategic decision-making within a growing and future-focused industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promoting legal awareness and best practices across UK and regional operations.

  • Advising UK business units on a broad range of commercial and contractual matters.

  • Leading contract negotiations and liaising directly with clients and business partners.

  • Drafting and reviewing legal agreements.

  • Advising on dispute resolution strategies and claims management.

  • Supporting contract negotiations including TSA and EPK contracts.

  • Ensuring alignment with corporate policies from regional and global leadership.

  • Monitoring legal and regulatory developments relevant to UK operations.

  • Assisting departments such as Sales, Aftersales, Project Management, PMC and Procurement with client and subcontractor agreements.

  • Coordinating litigation and formal legal proceedings where required.

About You:

  • UK-qualified solicitor with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience

  • A blend of experience in private practice and in-house legal roles (ideally within construction, engineering or renewable energy sectors)

  • Strong familiarity with NEC, JCT, and FIDIC contract forms

  • Deep understanding of key commercial agreements used in international business (e.g. sale/purchase, exclusivity, loan agreements)

  • Comfortable navigating the legal, financial and operational elements of complex technical projects

With a footprint in over 35 countries, this organisation is united by a clear purpose: enabling a more sustainable energy future.
