Our specialist CASS supervision teams deliver the FCA’s regulatory agenda for client assets, a pivotal part of the UK’s financial services regulatory framework designed to promote speedy return and minimise losses of customers’ money and assets following insolvency of regulated firms. These rules cover more than 3,000 regulated firms, holding £18bn of client money and £16 trillion of custody assets. They protect a wide range of financial services users – from people doing everyday things such as purchasing insurance or investing their savings, to large wholesale firms moving significant amounts around the financial system.

What will you be doing?

  • Developing and delivering the FCA’s strategy for supervising client assets
  • Representing the FCA’s expectations with credibility and authority, influencing firms to make meaningful, positive change
  • Forging and maintaining strong, collaborative partnerships with key internal stakeholders to ensure coordinated, effective and forward-looking FCA approaches to client assets
  • Working as part of the department’s leadership team to ensure that we work effectively and there is a positive and inclusive culture
  • Delivering through others - coaching, empowering and managing performance of team members
  • Role modelling strong leadership behaviours in line with organisational values

Minimum

  • Proven experience of managing and influencing key stakeholders, including senior decision makers internally and externally
  • Experience of leading change and build high performing teams
  • Detailed technical understanding and practical experience of CASS

Essential

  • An open and flexible management style and the ability to communicate effectively to a wide-ranging audience with different experiences and perspectives
  • Sound judgement, being able to make well-reasoned decisions including in circumstances where information is limited
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to deal with several different priorities and workstreams, often under significant time pressure
  • A strong sense of the value of teamwork
