Band 7 Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner Haemophilia Service
22.2 hrs / week (0.6 WTE)
Please note: As this post is part-time the salary will be pro-rata.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our Haemophilia multidisciplinary team and MSK Physiotherapy Outpatient Department to provide integrated assessment, diagnosis, analysis and management of patients with Haemophilia.
As the successful applicant, you will have a key role in leading and developing the Haemophilia Physiotherapy Service across NHS Lothian to improve practice and work collaboratively, implementing and evaluating evidence-based standards, guidelines and policies. You will provide specialist advice to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients, and relatives. The Advanced Practice Physiotherapy role encompasses that of expert clinician, educator and auditor, and the post holder will be encouraged to develop an interest in the use of point of care ultrasound with appropriate training
This post will actively lead on audit and research activity which will contribute to the development of the Haemophilia Physiotherapy Service, and contribute to the development of clinical guidance for Scottish Haemophilia Physiotherapy Services.
Outreach work in education and training of non-specialist physiotherapists regarding management of patients with bleeding disorders will be a key part of this post. The post holder may have supervision responsibility for Physiotherapy students.
The post holder will work flexibility and as the service requires across Haemophilia MDT located in OPD 1 RIE (including a Wednesday morning Multidisciplinary clinic and Friday afternoon MDT meeting) and the MSK Physiotherapy Out-Patient Department in OPD 5 RIE, working with a caseload of adults with Haemophilia and other bleeding disorders, primarily in an Out-patient capacity, however may include some in-patients. The post holder will have a designated based at RIE but may be require to work across other sites
Candidates must display a Broad range of clinical experience and proven expert clinical knowledge within the specialism of Rehabilitation, MSK, Long Term Conditions or other relevant sub-specialties as well as demonstrating an advanced ability to prioritise and plan for a wide range of presentations. Previous experience of working in a rehabilitation setting with colleagues from across the multi-disciplinary spectrum is essential. You will have experience in service development to support a proactive multi-disciplinary team who are involved in various Quality Improvement projects within this clinical area.
As the Advanced Practice Physiotherapist within this team you will work collaboratively with the RIE’s other team leads across a range of organisational and professional topics.
The range of conditions encountered, and requirement for excellence in leadership and team working in this post at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh will allow the successful candidate to gain extensive and in-depth experience as a clinical band 7 physiotherapist.
Physiotherapy Services support staff development through appraisal processes, supervision and CPD opportunities.
