About This Role

Our team is responsible for the Unix Compute Platform engineering and operations for our on-prem and cloud infrastructure. Our remit extends operationally to a large proportion of adjacent platform infrastructure including many other cloud-based resources (think container registries, load balancers, storage accounts, etc).

This position requires systems engineering experience and hands on knowledge of Kubernetes, the Linux operating systems, server technologies & cloud platforms. Our team is a global, 50+ person organization with locations in the Americas, EMEA, India and Singapore. Anyone in this role must be able to work with other platform engineers and stakeholders locally and in other global locations.

Being a developer at BlackRock means you get the best of both worlds: working for one of the most advanced financial companies and being part of a platform engineering team responsible for next generation technology and solutions.

You Are

  • Curious and eager to learn new things, with a healthy disrespect for the status quo.
  • Willing to embrace work outside of your comfort zone, and open to guidance from others; you make mistakes but learn from them.
  • Passionate about technology, with personal ownership for the work you do.
  • Data-focused, with an eye for the details that matter to solve the problem.

We Are

  • Passionate about building quality platforms and scaling technology to meet the needs of tomorrow.
  • Building solutions for BlackRock and over 100 organizations who use our technology.
  • Embracing containers, Kubernetes and modern, cloud-native technologies to super-charge our platform
  • Committed to open source and contributing back to the community.
  • Writing testable software every day, with a focus on incremental innovation.

You Have

  • Work experience on large scale software development and deployment.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science (or similar) from an accredited university (or in lieu of degree, 4+ years of relevant work experience).
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Go and/or Java with the ability and interest to learn other coding languages as needed.
  • Experience deploying and managing Kubernetes infrastructure using one of the major CSPs (Azure,GCP,AWS) and SRE best practices (SLOs, burn down alerting)
  • Experience with IaC development (Terraform, Crossplane, etc.) using agile and CI/CD best practices (test driven development, progressive deployment)
  • Experience with systems configuration management and automation systems (Puppet, Ansible) is a plus.

To help you stay energized, engaged and inspired, we offer a wide range of employee benefits including: retirement investment and tools designed to help you in building a sound financial future; access to education reimbursement; comprehensive resources to support your physical health and emotional well-being; family support programs; and Flexible Time Off (FTO) so you can relax, recharge and be there for the people you care about.
