With ongoing infrastructure projects and long-term renewals and maintenance frameworks—including Civils Asset Management (CAM), Renewals Enhancement Framework (REF), and Slabtrack frameworks—this is a prime opportunity to drive impactful change in the sector.
The Role
As Project Manager/ Senior Project Manager, you will lead teams responsible for delivering a portfolio of rail infrastructure projects, ensuring seamless execution from tendering to project completion. Your key responsibilities will include:
Strategic Leadership: Managing multiple rail and civil engineering projects, ensuring successful delivery within budget and programme.
Compliance & Safety: Ensuring contracts adhere to all applicable legislation, Health & Safety Plans, and environmental requirements.
Project Oversight: Keeping site teams informed about contract parameters and ensuring they have the right resources to achieve objectives.
Subcontractor & Supplier Management: Controlling and coordinating external resources to maintain the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and quality.
Progress Monitoring: Continuously tracking contract performance to ensure milestones and objectives are met.
Contract Negotiation: Identifying, agreeing, and managing contract changes in collaboration with the Project Delivery Team.
Reporting & Business Development: Providing formal progress reports while identifying new business opportunities for growth.
What We’re Looking For
To excel in this role, you should have previous experience leading rail and civil engineering projects with a strong technical and managerial background. The ideal candidate will bring:
Proven Experience: Previous experience as a Project Manager (or Senior PM) in rail contracting or civil engineering environments.
Technical Expertise: Degree / HNC / HND in civil engineering or equivalent experience in a technical engineering role.
Network Rail Accreditation: CRE sign-off or mentoring towards CRE approval.
Rail & Civils Experience: Demonstrated experience leading teams on rail infrastructure projects.
Industry Certifications: PTS / SMSTS accreditation.
Strong Leadership Skills: The ability to manage teams and drive excellence across multiple contracts.
