The Security Supervisor reports to the Lead Security Supervisor and is responsible for leading, managing, and ensuring the operational effectiveness of the Guarding Services. This includes ensuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are consistently met and accurately reported.


The Security and Resilience Command Centre (SaRCC), based in Edinburgh, operates 24/7/365 and provides abrdn with an intelligence-led physical security capability, maintaining real-time oversight of global events.


The SaRCC team manages an integrated technical security infrastructure across key sites in the United Kingdom and Europe. It also serves as a central point of coordination for travel safety, physical security escalations, building services issues, and business resilience incidents.


Job Description


The Guarding Service plays a critical role in supporting abrdn’s operations, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment that underpins the delivery of world-class services.


The Security Supervisor is responsible for supervising the Guarding Teams and supporting the delivery of SaRCC services. This includes leading the Guarding Teams in providing exceptional service, responding effectively to technical and operational incidents, and ensuring a consistent and professional standard is maintained.


Additionally, the Security Supervisor will assist the Lead Security Supervisor in promoting a professional and corporate approach across all aspects of service delivery, including adherence to policies and procedures, training and development, governance, audits, and compliance controls.


Key Responsibilities



  • Support the Lead Security Supervisor with KPI data collation and ensure full compliance across all on-site officers.

  • Act as the second point of contact for SaRCC cover (following Team Leaders, ahead of Lead Supervisors).

  • Conduct Patrol and Response duties as required.

  • Assist with team training and sign-off of officer competency.

  • Conduct appraisals for direct reports, with guidance from the Lead Security Supervisor.

  • Promote awareness and alignment with abrdn’s strategic objectives.

  • Provide clear leadership to all Guarding staff; ensure adherence to sign-in procedures and manage daily site arbitrations to confirm accurate staff payments.

  • Supervise Team Leaders and Security Officers, ensuring professional presentation and correct uniform standards.


Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications



  • Proven leadership and resource management skills.

  • Strong experience in security operations or control room environments (SIA Licence is essential).

  • Sound knowledge of incident management, command, and control processes.

  • Familiarity with Access Control, CCTV, Intruder Detection, and alarm response systems.

  • Confident in making decisions under pressure, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.

  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel.

  • Team-oriented, reliable, and accountable.

  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
