JOIN SCOTLAND’s FASTEST GROWING STARTUP

We’ve just secured a Series A, come help us shape what’s next in our engine rooms as our Operations Associate. If you’re a zero to one generalist who thrives on ownership, analytics, and scaling end-to-end processes, this is your launchpad.

About the Role

As a Operations Associate, you’ll work directly with our founders and cross functional leads to architect, automate, and optimise every back office function: from RevOps and finance through HR and IT security. You’ll build dashboards, streamline workflows, and codify the operational playbook that powers our month on month hyper growth. This is an in-office role in Edinburgh (5 days/week). We move fast, collaborate face to face, and learn most effectively side-by-side.

About Wordsmith

Wordsmith is the AI command-centre for in-house legal teams—automating intake, Q&A, redlines, drafting, and research so legal can finally operate at the speed of business. Backed by Index Ventures and industry-leading founders, we’re scaling from Edinburgh to London, New York, and beyond. Join us to build the operational backbone of a category-defining AI startup.

Who You Are

This role is for the ambitious, the exceptional, and the driven, who are ready to make your mark on a hyper growth AI startup. You’ll need to demonstrate:

  • Educational Excellence: A STEM, or Business degree from a top-tier university.

  • High-Caliber Experience: 2+ years at a top-tier investment bank (J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley), leading consultancy (McKinsey, Bain, BCG), or a high-growth startup in a strategy or operations role.

  • Technical & Analytical Skills:

  • Strong SQL proficiency for data modelling and automation.

  • Comfort with BI tools (Tableau, Looker) and basic Python scripting.

  • Process & Problem Solving Prowess:

  • Proven track record designing scalable workflows and financial/operational models.

  • Solutions-oriented mindset: you tackle ambiguity head-on and execute end-to-end.

  • Cross-Functional Communication:

  • Experience collaborating with founders, finance partners, HR leads, and IT vendors.

  • Able to translate data into clear, actionable insights for execs.

  • Startup Grit & Ownership:

  • Thrive in a lean, fast-paced environment—wear multiple hats without dropping balls.

  • Obsess over details while moving at lightspeed.

Who You’ll Work With

  • Founders & Senior Leaders: Sit in on strategy sessions, own special projects, and learn scaling tactics firsthand.

  • RevOps Lead: Co-build our CRM pipelines, dashboards, and automation engines.

  • Finance Partner: Streamline P&L tracking, cash-flow management, and budget forecasting.

  • People & Talent Lead: Optimise hiring workflows, onboarding, and policy rollouts.

  • IT/Security Advisor: Define access controls, audit systems, and coordinate security drills.

What You’ll Do

  • RevOps & Analytics: Build/optimise CRM processes, analyse funnel metrics, and automate reports.

  • Finance & Reporting: Partner on monthly P&L, variance analysis, invoicing, and expense workflows.

  • People & HR: Manage ATS, headcount trackers, policy updates, and new-hire programs.

  • IT & Security: Audit user access, liaise with vendors, and run quarterly security trainings.

  • Continuous Improvement: Map current processes, eliminate bottlenecks, and document SOPs.

  • Ad-hoc Strategic Projects: Lead initiatives, from market research and vendor evaluations to pilot programs—presenting findings directly to founders.

What We Offer

  • Compensation & Equity: Above-market compensation for exceptional talent, with real skin in the game. Salary dependent on experience

  • Growth & Learning: You’ll get direct access to our founders and senior leaders on a daily basis, and we don’t gate growth behind time-served, prove yourself and you’ll progress quickly

  • Culture: We believe, as an early-stage startup, we can grow faster in person, so you’ll be working in the office up to 5 days a week.

  • Building a unicorn () is not easy. It can mean long days, fire fighting, and shipping stuff quickly, but you’ll do this as part of an exceptional team with plenty of support and a weekly all hands meeting that celebrates success.

  • We also like to make the most of our amazing surroundings, our office is next to a castle (), and you can expect periodic off-sites in the Scottish Highlands, with mandatory BBQs and optional wild swimming.

  • Inclusive Culture: We encourage applications from underrepresented groups (people of color, LGBTQ+ community, neurodivergent individuals, parents, carers, and more). Let us know how we can accommodate you.
