Around 1 in 5 people in the UK has a pension with us. We’re a FTSE 100 organisation that is tackling key issues such as transitioning our portfolio to net zero by 2050, and we’re not done yet..
The Role
You will be part of a small team that seeks to integrate risk thinking into the heart of strategic decision making across the Group. The role will report to the Head of Risk Strategy driving practices that connect risk insight with what matters most to the business.
It is a role that will work very closely with colleagues across the Risk Function as well as the wider Group driving an enterprise level view on top and emerging risks that could impact our strategic objectives.
We need a strong strategic writer who combines expertise in risk management with the ability to communicate complex information at an executive level. This will include internal and external reporting and presentations as well as developing framework and policy documents.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for bringing together information from sources across Risk and the wider Group and translating it into meaningful insight that can inform discussion at executive and board level. This will include writing reports but also internal and external presentations on risk strategy, emerging risks and external risk factors.
Responsible for ongoing maintenance of the enterprise risk strategy and risk management framework (RMF); and working with colleagues in the risk function on standards and principles for risk management that align with industry best practice and have a pragmatic application in the business.
Responsible for the systems, processes and controls that help gather insight from the risk management framework and other data sources (internal and external) to inform a view on the most material risks affecting the Group. This includes bridging insight from our top risks with insight from our risk and control processes.
Essential
Experience within financial services; ideally life, pensions and/or investment management; with a strong background in risk management and practical understanding of strategic and enterprise risk.
Real-life examples of writing Board and executive level papers and presentations; and translating complex information into impactful accessible insight. It is desirable to have engaged and presented information at director or board level.
Accounting or actuarial background or equivalent experience to allow for interrogation and translation of financial data into meaningful insight.
Hands on experience of building systems and processes to gather data on inherent risks, emerging risks and the external environment and translate into a forward looking view of risks that could impact the Group.
We want to hire the whole version of you.
We are committed to ensuring that everyone feels accepted and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If your experience looks different from what we’ve advertised and you believe that you can bring value to the role, we’d love to hear from you.
If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process, please let us know so we can help you to be at your best.
Please note that we reserve the right to remove adverts earlier than the advertised closing date. We encourage you to apply at the earliest opportunity.
