The Information Disclosure Team (IDT), based within the Operations Division, is responsible for a variety of high profile and public facing work, including compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and other areas of information-based activity, such as compliance with the Environmental Information Regulations and the Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations.

The team’s role is crucial to the success of the relationship between the FCA, the public and the regulated community. As a public body the FCA is subject to Disclosure legislation. If we get things wrong in this area we could face damage to reputation, risk of fines from the Information Regulator (ICO), foster lack of confidence and diminish the FCAs authority to regulate, if cannot meet regulatory information requirements.

What will you be doing?

  • Process and release information under the Freedom of Information Act
  • Assist with development and maintenance of the network of contacts across FCA business areas
  • Produce high quality oral and written communications to key stakeholders and to members of the public
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field of information access, receiving training and disseminating information as appropriate and monitor relevant regulatory developments and notify the business of changing requirements
  • Contribute to training and awareness delivery to key stakeholders across FCA business areas
  • You’ll support the IDT and Executive Casework by flexibly responding to shifting priorities. This includes taking on a variety of tasks such as processing Subject Access Requests and managing FOIA Appeals, depending on the needs of the team

Minimum

  • Extensive experience in handling and responding to requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), including application of relevant legislation and guidance such as the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) Code of Practice
  • Experience in communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders both verbally and in writing, explaining complex issues to those who do not have a background in disclosure
  • Prior experience managing multiple tasks, providing regular updates and meeting crucial deadlines

Essential

  • Ability to deliver tasks in a timely manner and ensure service standards are maintained
  • Excellent attention to detail when drafting responses, with good decision-making skills
  • A proven track record of developing strong relationships and networks across an organisation to ensure a joined-up approach and to deliver to strict deadlines
  • Able to influence senior colleagues by providing clear and persuasive guidance
  • Able to redact documents using various applications and software

  • SC Clearance is required for this role - SC Guidance The successful candidate will hold or will be required to obtain Security Clearance (SC) level vetting.
