About the Role:
This is a unique opportunity to join the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) in a senior leadership role at a time of significant organisational transformation. As Head of Business Management for a Directorate, you will be at the forefront of ensuring performance targets are met, whilst delivering high-impact change and operational excellence across Scotland’s prosecution service.
In this dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will take full operational responsibility for an organisational function, reporting directly to one or more Legal Directors. You will provide strategic leadership and business support, lead a team of administrative professionals, to ensure the effective management of legal casework and resources. Your leadership will be instrumental in delivering transformational change aligned with COPFS’s strategic goals, managing resources to ensure responsive services for victims and witnesses, and driving continuous improvement and performance enhancement across your function. You will play a key role in supporting the Chief Operating Officer’s vision for modernisation and corporate support, while also contributing to the objectives set out in the Business Plan and by the Leadership and Strategic Boards.
To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate senior-level experience in delivering strong operational performance in a public facing organisation and transformational change to meet organisational goals. You should be comfortable responding quickly to changing situations and approaching challenges with creativity, flexibility and resilience. Your ability to lead through complexity and deliver against demanding targets and commitments will be essential.
Equally important is your ability to build and maintain trusted, effective relationships. You will have a strong track record of securing the confidence of senior colleagues and stakeholders, acting with integrity and empathy. Your collaborative approach, persuasive communication style and ability to advocate for change will enable you to influence across organisational boundaries and deliver results in an operationally complex environment.
This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on Scotland’s justice system, ensuring high standards of public service and operational delivery. If you are a strategic thinker, a confident leader, and a skilled relationship builder, we invite you to help shape the future of COPFS.
