We're looking for people to join the Asset Management & Funds Department within the FCA’s Buyside Supervision Directorate. These exciting roles offers you the opportunity to engage and influence change at firms across the sector. You will be exposed to strategic issues and key players in financial services. Joining the department offers a key insight into a dynamic and critically important sector, at a time of rapid and fundamental change.
What will you be doing?
We have two opportunities. Firstly, a role supervising some of the largest asset managers in the UK, through the establishing of credible relationships with firms’ senior leaders and then leading the design and execution of supervision strategies. Secondly, a dynamic role focused on supervising smaller firms in the long tail of the asset management sector, being responsible for responding to events in an agile and assertive manner.

- You will be responsible for understanding how the strategies, business models or operations of large asset management firms could cause harm to consumers
- Lead the design and implementation of supervision strategies to create real change in firms in the best interests of consumers
- You will lead senior interactions, communicating clearly and succinctly, influencing their conduct and shaping key decisions through application of sound judgement
- Leading reactive work in response to firm issues and industry developments
- Working collaboratively and building strong relationships with internal stakeholders such as Authorisations and Enforcement, as well as external parties such as other regulators
- Contributing to the wider department, including making recommendations for continuous improvement of our processes and identification of sector-wide risks and issues
- This exciting role offers you the opportunity to engage and influence change at firms across the sector, you will be exposed to strategic issues and key players in financial services
- You will have a personal accountability to work out how big firms are causing risk to everyday consumers and what solutions are best to combat this
- You will have the opportunity to visit firms on site visits whilst engaging with stakeholders about driving changes in these firms for the benefit of consumers
- An opportunity to gain key insight into a dynamic and critically important sector, at a time of rapid and fundamental change

Minimum
- Prior industry, consultancy or regulatory experience within the asset management, insurance or banking sectors
- Prior experience of reviewing, investigating, and assessing information from various sources to make sound judgements
- Prior experience of managing internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Commitment to the work of the FCA and a desire to make a difference
- Demonstrable experience of analysing, investigating, and assessing information from various sources to make sound judgements
- A delivery focused mindset and ability to operate in an environment where there are competing priorities
- Ability to present yourself and the FCA in a professional and credible manner
- A great team player who works effectively with others to achieve positive outcomes
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with senior management and stakeholders
- A good communicator, who explains issues clearly, concisely and can influence others. Offering constructive challenge, delivering strong messages and responding to challenge effectively
- Ability to learn, develop and take on new responsibilities, quickly filling gaps in your understanding
