Senior Software Engineer - #2067981

A ‘Tech for Good’ organisation based in Edinburgh is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Front-End leaning) with strong React experience to join their hybrid team. Work with modern technologies, help shape customer-facing products used across the UK, and play a key role in improving consistency and scalability across a suite of digital platforms.

They’ve been operating very successfully for several years now and offer an award-winning service that helps thousands of people every day. This is a great opportunity to work on a series of products that genuinely make a difference, while joining a business that continues to experience strong year-on-year growth across both their customer base and engineering function.

You’d be joining one of their Agile product squads, working closely with Engineers, Product Managers and UX Designers on a highly used customer platform. The role has a strong front-end focus, centred around building scalable, accessible UI components and helping drive consistency across multiple customer-facing products.

This is a really collaborative environment, where Engineers work closely with UX to ensure designs are implemented effectively and consistently across the platform. Although there’s no expectation to carry out UX or wireframing work yourself, experience working alongside Design and Product teams in a modern product environment would be hugely valuable.

Their current stack includes React, Next.js, TypeScript, Java, SpringBoot, AWS and Kubernetes. Experience with all of this would be great, but they’re primarily looking for collaborative Engineers with strong front-end expertise and experience building reusable UI components.

They place a strong emphasis on building high-quality software, and value Engineers who enjoy working closely with others and contributing to technical conversations around the platform and front-end approach.

You’ll ideally have experience with most of the following;

• Strong React + TypeScript experience
• Experience working with Design Systems / Component Libraries
• Next.js
• Modern Front-End Development practices
• Working closely with UX / Product teams
• Test Driven Development or strong testing practices

Experience with the following is highly desirable;

• Java / SpringBoot
• AI-assisted development tooling (Copilot, Codex, Claude etc.)

This opportunity would suit an experienced Front-End Engineer that enjoys building modern customer-facing products, cares about user experience and wants to help shape engineering standards across a growing technology team.

Their offices are based just on the outskirts of Edinburgh, within walking distance of a tram stop and train station, with free parking available onsite. They support hybrid working, where you’ll be expected onsite three days per week for collaboration time with the wider team.

In return they’re able to offer a salary from £55k to £75k (with some flex on this), alongside a strong benefits package which includes a 35-hour working week, private healthcare, 15% pension, annual bonus, 28 days holiday plus bank holidays and much more.
