Senior New Business Development Manager

Leading professional services firm

Newly created role

Competitive salary & excellent benefits

Hybrid working (3 days office, 2 home)

Edinburgh/Glasgow

My client is a leading professional services firm, highly regarded in its market and entering a period of sustained growth and investment. Sales and marketing are central to its commercial strategy, with a clear focus on building a more specialist, outward-facing capability that strengthens market presence and drives measurable growth. The culture is collaborative and supportive, with strong leadership backing and a genuine commitment to evolving how the firm generates new business.

This is a newly created role, offering the opportunity to join at a formative stage. The direction is clear, the platform is in place, and the function is becoming increasingly visible and aligned to business outcomes. It will suit someone who wants to operate at the front end of growth and play a tangible role in shaping how opportunity is created.

The role centres on generating new business opportunities and building early-stage relationships with senior decision-makers across target organisations. Working closely with Partners and commercial colleagues, the successful individual will ensure a consistent flow of high-quality meetings and opportunities through insight-led, targeted outreach. Alongside outbound activity, the role will take ownership of marketing-generated leads, progressing them effectively to support conversion and pipeline development. There is also scope to contribute to team capability and culture, supporting a collaborative, high-performing environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Generating new business opportunities through targeted, insight-led outreach into priority organisations
  • Building and maintaining relationships with senior stakeholders, creating long-term engagement
  • Developing a consistent flow of qualified meetings aligned to growth priorities
  • Progressing and converting marketing-qualified leads with clear follow-up and defined next steps
  • Managing pipeline activity with strong prioritisation, focusing on high-value opportunities
  • Supporting effective handover of opportunities to Partners and wider teams
  • Capturing market insight from client interactions to inform targeting and proposition development
  • Working collaboratively across teams to strengthen go-to-market activity
  • Contributing to the development of junior colleagues and a culture of continuous improvement

The successful candidate will bring:

  • A strong track record in new business development, lead generation or front-end sales within a B2B environment
  • Confidence engaging senior stakeholders and building credibility through consultative conversations
  • A proactive, self-starting approach with the drive to generate and progress opportunities
  • Strong commercial awareness and interest in market trends and client needs
  • The ability to balance activity levels with quality and maintain discipline in pipeline management
  • A collaborative mindset and comfort operating across multiple stakeholders in a partnership environment
  • A keen desire to supporting others and contribute to overall team capability

Experience within professional services would be beneficial but is not essential. Individuals from other complex, relationship-led sales environments will be considered.

In return, my client offers the opportunity to play a visible role within a growing and well-supported function, working closely with senior stakeholders and contributing directly to commercial growth. The role provides exposure to a broad client base, a collaborative working environment, and clear scope for progression as the function evolves.
