As part of the team working in the Contact, Command and Control Division, you can make a real difference by supporting the provision of the Area Control Room to our officer and staff.



Key Responsibilities:



To provide the highest possible standard of service to the Public and the Force by commanding and controlling Police resources to incidents in accordance with grade of call and co-ordinating any other necessary agency in response to incidents.



Support operational officers by providing relevant system information and updating incident logs.



Receive, evaluate, prioritise and action information relating to routine and emergency situations. Task and allocate police resources in response to all live, ongoing incidents, in line with the grading of the call. Provide relevant support throughout the period of any incident.





Essential Skills required for the role:






  • Educated to SQA Higher Grade level or equivalent,



OR




  • Where no formal qualifications exist significant relevant experience in the provision of customer advice over the telephone (particularly high volume call handling) 






  • Effective interpersonal skills

  • Confident, concise and competent communicator

  • Ability to remain calm and courteous at all times, particularly when dealing with a number of activities simultaneously.

  • Able to adapt positively to change.

  • Ability to work on own initiative, with minimum supervision or as part of a team.

  • Decisive with sound judgement.

  • Flexible

  • Accurate

  • Must have excellent keyboard skills

  • Must be IT literate with working knowledge of Windows, with the ability to become proficient in the appropriate computer system (this role will involve navigating various police systems.)

  • Experience of working in a reactive environment.
