We are partnering with a leading Edinburgh-based organisation looking for a to act as the subject matter expert for SharePoint and digital platforms. This is a high-impact, senior individual contributor role where you’ll define standards, influence strategy, and drive the future direction of their Microsoft 365 and AI ecosystem.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a role with true autonomy, where your decisions will directly influence how the organisation evolves its digital capabilities.

The Opportunity

In this pivotal role, you will be the go-to expert for SharePoint and digital workplace platforms, owning architecture, governance, and continuous improvement.

You will balance control, usability, and innovation, ensuring platforms are secure and compliant while still enabling teams to collaborate effectively.

Alongside this, you will play a key role in advancing AI adoption, supporting tools like Microsoft Copilot and helping the organisation embrace AI responsibly and strategically.

What You will Be Responsible For

SharePoint Architecture & Design

• Lead the design of scalable and intuitive SharePoint environments
• Define site structures, hierarchy, metadata, and navigation to ensure content is easy to find and manage
• Establish best practices that improve usability while maintaining consistency across the organisation

Governance & Control

• Own governance frameworks including permissions, access models, and data protection standards
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
• Proactively manage risks such as oversharing and poor data hygiene

Strong Judgement & Decision Making

• Act as the key decision-maker balancing governance vs user experience
• Enable the business without overcomplicating processes
• Make pragmatic, informed decisions that support both control and productivity

Hands-On Delivery

• Remain close to the technology, actively building, configuring, and improving the environment
• Deliver enhancements across SharePoint, Power Platform, and integrated tools
• Implement workflows, automation, and productivity improvements

Stakeholder Influence

• Work across all levels of the organisation to guide and challenge non-technical stakeholders
• Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
• Drive adoption of best practices and new technologies

Independent Leadership

• Operate as a senior individual contributor with no direct reports
• Manage priorities, shape the roadmap, and take full ownership of outcomes
• Act as the organisation’s SME for SharePoint, digital collaboration, and emerging AI tools

AI & Innovation Focus

• Support rollout and optimisation of Microsoft Copilot and AI-enabled tools
• Identify opportunities for AI-driven efficiency and insight
• Promote responsible AI usage, considering data security, compliance, and ethical risks

Your Skills & Experience

• Proven experience administering and designing SharePoint Online environments
• Strong expertise in information architecture, governance, and Microsoft 365
• Hands-on experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, PnP PowerShell, etc.)
• Solid understanding of access control, compliance, and data protection
• Experience with or interest in AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of a critical function
