Senior Associate - Portfolio Management
Based: Edinburgh or Glasgow
The Scottish National Investment Bank is seeking an experienced Senior Associate - Portfolio Management to play a key role in supporting the active management of the Bank's diverse and expanding investment portfolio.
As a Senior Associate in the Portfolio Management team, you will act as a key point of contact for investee companies, analyse performance against the Bank's investment case, lead due diligence on follow-on opportunities, develop detailed financial models and prepare investment papers for senior management and committees.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of smaller projects and components of larger transactions, while working closely with Risk, Legal and Impact colleagues and contributing to strong relationships across Scotland's financial ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key point of contact for investee companies, maintaining up-to-date portfolio information and understanding deviations from the Bank's investment case.
- Lead due diligence for potential follow-on investment opportunities, analysing financial statements, market data, investment viability and risk.
- Develop, maintain and enhance detailed financial models for forecasting and valuation, providing insight into financial trends, potential returns and risk.
- Draft and present comprehensive investment papers and make recommendations on investment structures and terms aligned with the Bank's goals.
- Lead smaller projects or components of larger transactions, applying strong investment and portfolio management judgement.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues and contribute to their development and involvement in projects.
- Work collaboratively with Risk, Legal and Impact colleagues to support cohesive investment processes and timely responses to investee requests and consents.
- Maintain awareness of relevant financial market developments and build relationships with investee companies, key market participants and stakeholders across the Scottish financial ecosystem.
Key Skills & Experience
You will bring significant experience in investment analysis, financial modelling and due diligence, together with the judgement, communication skills and collaborative approach required to manage complex investment activity.

- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to manage projects or components of larger transactions.
- Proven analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving capability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to prepare and present investment recommendations and engage effectively with stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of financial markets, particularly in relation to sustainable investment and the Scottish financial ecosystem.
- A demonstrable commitment to ethical investment practices and a strong understanding of ESG factors.
- A degree qualification, with a professional qualification such as CFA highly regarded.
- The ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- A willingness to mentor junior colleagues and contribute to the wider development and success of the team.
What We Offer

The salary range is £69-80k, depending on experience, with additional benefits including 30 days annual leave plus public holidays, a 12% non-contributory pension, volunteer days, and more.
