The Role
The organisation is looking for an experienced Personal Tax Manager to join their Edinburgh team. This is a key leadership position that balances compliance and advisory duties for a growing portfolio of high-net-worth clients. The role involves managing client relationships, reviewing team work, and supporting junior staff development. There are opportunities to participate in firm-wide advisory projects and industry presentations.
- Lead the delivery of personal tax compliance and advisory services for a varied client base
- Review and ensure the technical accuracy of clients’ tax work
- Manage a portfolio of clients, including trusts, estates, partnerships, and corporate interests
- Support the training and mentoring of junior team members
- Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver tailored tax planning solutions
- Ensure timely delivery of work within budgets and statutory deadlines
The Person
You will bring a solid background in personal tax, with a proactive attitude and a motivation to deliver excellent service. Your experience managing client portfolios and leading teams will support your success. Your understanding of UK tax regulations and advisory work will enable you to provide comprehensive solutions to complex client needs.
Mandatory:
- 1-2 years relevant experience at managerial level in a professional services environment
- CTA qualification or equivalent
- Proven experience managing personal tax compliance and advisory work
- Ability to review work for technical accuracy and compliance
- Strong organisational skills with attention to deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise confidently with clients and partners
Preferred:
- Experience handling inheritance tax, capital gains tax, international tax, and trust planning
- Working knowledge of computerised tax software and Excel
- Experience working with high-net-worth clients and complex structures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
