Senior Roads and Drainage Engineer - #2136391

Morgan Hunt are working with an Edinburgh based consultancy to recruit a Senior Roads and Drainage Engineer to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and commercially aware engineer to take a leading role in delivering infrastructure projects and supporting the continued growth of the team. You will be responsible for leading projects, liaising closely with clients, and contributing to the development of engineers and technicians. The roads and drainage team within the business work on projects across residential, commercial and infrastructure projects. You will work closely with other disciplines within the business to deliver projects from conception through to completion. This role offers the chance for someone who is ready to lead and build out a department to do so within a well established business.


Key Responsibilities:

• Take overall responsibility for the delivery of infrastructure projects, from smaller residential developments through to complex, large-scale schemes.
• Develop and deliver detailed infrastructure designs, including roads, drainage, earthworks, and finished site levels, progressing projects from initial feasibility and concept design through to construction.
• Undertake technical reviews of designs, drawings, specifications, and project documentation, ensuring they meet relevant standards, statutory requirements, and client objectives.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, local authorities, statutory bodies, consultants, contractors, and wider multidisciplinary teams.
• Lead and contribute to design and project meetings, undertake site inspections, and provide practical engineering support throughout the construction and delivery stages.
• Support business development activities through the preparation of tenders, fee proposals, scopes of services, and technical submissions.
• Provide technical direction and leadership to engineers and technicians, including mentoring, design guidance, quality assurance, and support with professional development.

What they're looking for:

• A degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
• Strong experience in the residential infrastructure sector.
• Proven ability in the development and detailed design of roads, drainage and external works.
• Strong knowledge of relevant UK policies and design standards, including DMRB and Sewers for Scotland.
• Experience designing adopted drainage and highways, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet programme deadlines.
• AutoCAD, PDS/Site 3D, and MicroDrainage/Flow experience
• A full clean driving licence.
