Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Mechanical Supervisor on an 6 Month Contract based in Scotland.
Role Summary
Rubicon Consulting are recruiting an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join a live project at Dounreay, Scotland. This is a key onsite leadership role, responsible for the day-to-day supervision of mechanical works, ensuring installation activities are delivered safely, to the required quality standard, and in line with programme.
The successful candidate will act as the main point of contact for the mechanical workforce onsite, managing labour, coordinating with other trades and disciplines, and reporting directly into the project management team. Previous experience supervising mechanical works within a substation environment is essential, along with a strong, hands-on approach to site safety and RAMS management.
Responsibilities
- Supervising mechanical works onsite to ensure safe, efficient and compliant delivery
- Producing, reviewing and briefing RAMS to the workforce prior to works commencing
- Carrying out regular site inspections and toolbox talks, and addressing any safety concerns promptly
- Ensuring compliance with site safety standards, procedures and client requirements at all times
- Coordinating the mechanical team's daily activities and allocating labour and resources effectively
- Liaising with the wider project team, including electrical supervision, project management and the client
- Monitoring progress against the programme, and reporting on site activities, delays and any issues arising
- Supporting quality control by ensuring works are completed to specification and properly documented
Requirements
- CSCS card – valid and up to date
- SSSTS or SMSTS – supervisory-level safety qualification
- First Aid at Work certificate
- Proven experience supervising mechanical works within a substation environment
- Strong working knowledge of RAMS – writing, reviewing and briefing to the workforce
- Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with client, project management and site operatives
- Previous experience on National Grid or similar high-voltage substation projects
- Working knowledge of mechanical installation on transformers, switchgear or associated plant
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities under programme pressure
- A proactive, safety-first mindset and a hands-on leadership style
