A leading engineering and sustainability consultancy is looking to appoint a Sustainability Consultant to join its growing Sustainability team.

With an established reputation for delivering innovative solutions across the built environment, the business works across a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, healthcare, education, science and technology projects. As demand for low-carbon design continues to grow, the team is expanding its expertise across whole-life carbon and sustainable development.

This is an excellent opportunity for a sustainability professional with experience in LCA, WLCA to join a collaborative consultancy and work alongside experienced professionals on a varied project portfolio.

The Opportunity

You'll be involved in supporting the delivery of sustainability and carbon-focused projects, working as part of multidisciplinary teams and helping clients understand and improve the environmental performance of their developments.

The role would suit someone who enjoys combining technical analysis with project and stakeholder interaction and is looking to further develop their career within a growing sustainability practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver sustainability and carbon assessments across a range of building projects.
  • Undertake LCA and WLCA assessments using One Click LCA.
  • Review project information, materials and specifications to support carbon analysis.
  • Assist with identifying opportunities to improve environmental performance.
  • Work alongside architects, engineers, developers and other project stakeholders.
  • Prepare clear technical outputs and communicate findings to clients and project teams.
  • Contribute to project proposals and the continued development of the sustainability service.
  • Keep up to date with emerging guidance, standards and best practice within whole-life carbon.

About You

Keen to speak with candidates who have experience in sustainability consultancy, environmental design, engineering or a related discipline, with a particular interest in carbon and environmental assessment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience delivering LCA and/or WLCA assessments.
  • Practical experience using One Click LCA.
  • A good understanding of embodied and whole-life carbon.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • The ability to interpret technical information and communicate it effectively.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive approach to learning and professional development.

Additional experience across areas such as BREEAM, Net Zero Carbon, operational energy or wider sustainability assessments would be advantageous.

Why Join?

  • Join an established consultancy with a strong reputation within the built environment.
  • Work across a varied portfolio of high-profile projects.
  • Develop your expertise within LCA, WLCA and embodied carbon.
  • Work alongside experienced sustainability and engineering professionals.
  • Strong opportunities for career progression and professional development.
  • Flexible working arrangements and a collaborative working environment.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the delivery of more sustainable buildings and developments.
