There comes a point in a Paraplanner's career where the next step isn't necessarily about changing job title.

It can be about becoming really good at what you do.

Working with experienced Financial Planners. Getting exposure to more sophisticated client needs. Developing your technical knowledge. Working through complex planning scenarios and becoming increasingly confident discussing Financial Planning at the highest level.

I'm recruiting for one of the UK's leading wealth management firms, looking to add an experienced Paraplanner to its established Edinburgh Financial Planning team.

For someone who has already built a solid foundation in Paraplanning, this could be an excellent next step.

You'll join an Edinburgh team containing 11 Financial Planners at various stages of their careers, supported by a Senior Paraplanner (Lead), four other Paraplanners and two administrative staff.

You'll work closely with experienced Financial Planners, helping to deliver high-quality advice across a broad range of client requirements.

Your role will include:

• Producing high-quality, client-focused suitability reports
• Undertaking technical research across pensions, investments, taxation and estate planning
• Preparing cashflow modelling to support clients' long-term plans
• Supporting annual reviews and ongoing Financial Planning work
• Attending client meetings alongside Financial Planners where appropriate
• Preparing meeting notes and briefing advisers ahead of meetings
• Managing your own workflow and taking responsibility for the quality of your work
• Sharing technical knowledge and best practice across the wider team

You'll be encouraged to continue developing your knowledge, challenge yourself technically and build experience within a highly regarded Financial Planning environment.

That's partly up to you.

You might want to become Chartered and build a long-term career as a highly accomplished Paraplanner.

You might eventually want to become a Financial Planner. There can be opportunities to progress into advice within the business, although understandably these depend on future business needs and vacancies rather than being guaranteed within a set timeframe.

Or your career may ultimately take you in another direction entirely.

The value of this role is the experience you'll gain along the way.

It's an opportunity to really zone in on your technical expertise, become accustomed to working at a high level and continue perfecting your Financial Planning knowledge.

Wherever your career eventually takes you, the aim is to build the technical confidence and experience to discuss Financial Planning at the highest level.

This isn't an entry-level Paraplanning opportunity. You'll already have a good foundation to build upon.

You'll need:

• Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning as a minimum
• At least 3 years' Paraplanning experience
• Strong report-writing and technical research experience
• Good knowledge across pensions, investments, taxation and estate planning
• The ability to manage your own workload and work effectively alongside experienced Financial Planners

Chartered status isn't essential.

However, progress towards Chartered would be viewed positively, particularly for candidates looking towards the upper end of the £55,000 salary range.

Full exam and study support is available if you'd like to continue progressing towards Chartered status.

Salary up to £55,000, depending on experience and qualifications, plus:
