WTG Electrical Engineer for a major offshore wind farm in Scotland

Responsibilities

• Preparation of electrical scope of works and Client requirements for offshore turbine and foundation contracts.
• Lead on wind turbine electrical design review and approvals.
• Front end engineering design works for turbine foundation electrical systems.
• Manage electrical interfaces between turbine and foundation.
• Close collaboration with supplier to ensure that the design, manufacturing and installation process comply with contractual and industry design and quality standards.
• The role will require knowledge of HV electrical systems within the turbine, such as converters, transformers and switchgear and will also require knowledge of LV electrical and cable systems
• Develop electrical contract documentation including management and preparation of substation and electrical balance of plant contracts and Works

Experience Required

• Experience in substation layout design, primary equipment specifications and testing up to 400kV
• Good technical knowledge and experience of renewable electricity Generation or Transmission
• A good working knowledge of engineering legislation and industry good practice relevant to substation designs, primary plant and protection
• Thorough understanding of commercial awareness to understand implications of engineering activities and decisions
• Experienced with preparations for offshore construction phase as well as construction and related regulatory requirements, frameworks and legal framing
• Act as an interface with permitting authorities, environmental regulators and relevant statutory stakeholders
• Experienced in engaging constructively with authorities, consultees, NGOs, communities, representatives and other stakeholders
• Ability of understanding complex permit-related issues that have high level of detail and cross-disciplinary interrelationships
• Ensure permit conditions and environmental commitments are embedded in project requirements, contractor scopes, compliance plans and operational controls
• Develop and maintain integrated permitting strategies, consent schedules, deliverable plans and approval registers aligned with project milestones and business objectives
• Identify permitting and environmental risks, dependencies and opportunities; define mitigations and communicate impacts to schedule, design, procurement, contracts and construction planning
• Commercial awareness and experience managing consultants, scopes of work, budgets, contracts, schedules and interfaces
