Registered Care Manager

Central Edinburgh | £37,500 – £40,000 per annum | Full Time | Permanent | 40 hours per week

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced and motivated Registered Care Manager to lead an established registered service in Central Edinburgh.

The service is registered with the Care Inspectorate as a combined Care at Home and Housing Support Service, providing care and support to socially excluded adults with a variety of complex and often overlapping needs. These can include enduring mental health problems, physical health problems, substance misuse, criminal justice issues and previous homelessness.

As Registered Care Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day leadership, management and development of both elements of the service, ensuring care and support are delivered safely, effectively and in line with Care Inspectorate and SSSC requirements, relevant legislation and organisational policies and procedures.

You will lead a dedicated staff team and work closely with Directors and the wider Management Team to maintain high standards of care, support and compliance while continuing to develop the service.

What you'll be responsible for:

• Providing strong day-to-day leadership to the service and staff team.
• Managing and developing staff through supervision, support, training and performance management.
• Overseeing care and support packages, ensuring they are person-centred, safe and responsive.
• Maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, safeguarding and risk management.
• Ensuring the service meets Care Inspectorate, SSSC and legislative requirements.
• Working closely with people who use the service, their families and other professionals.
• Building effective relationships with Local Authorities, Health Boards and other partner agencies.
• Monitoring service performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Supporting the continued development and growth of the service.
• Working closely with Directors and the Senior Management Team on the ongoing development of the organisation's care and support services.

This is a hands-on management role for someone who is comfortable making decisions, managing competing priorities and taking responsibility for the overall quality and performance of a registered service.

About You

Our client is looking for an experienced care professional who can combine strong leadership with a genuinely person-centred approach.

You will have:

• SVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care (SCQF Level 9), or an SSSC recognised equivalent.
• Experience of managing and supporting staff within a support or care setting.
• Experience of leading a staff team, including supervision, development and performance management.
• A good understanding of Care Inspectorate and SSSC requirements.
• Experience of working with people with complex, challenging and multiple support needs.
• Strong communication, organisational and decision-making skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with staff, people who use the service and external professionals.
• The confidence to take responsibility, use professional judgement and know when matters need to be escalated.

Experience of managing a Care Inspectorate Registered Service would be advantageous, as would experience of working with people affected by homelessness, criminal justice, mental health difficulties, substance misuse or co-occurring conditions.
