The Vice President, IT Program Management is a senior technology leader responsible for establishing and leading the organization's enterprise IT program management function, with particular emphasis on Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), laboratory technology, enterprise applications, and large-scale digital transformation initiatives.

This role will provide strategic leadership across a portfolio of complex technology programs, ensuring that IT initiatives are aligned with business objectives, delivered on time and within budget, and produce measurable operational value.

The VP will work closely with executive leadership, laboratory operations, business unit leaders, Quality, Finance, Commercial, and other functional stakeholders to define technology priorities and execute a coordinated IT roadmap.

A key responsibility will be the continued evolution, standardization, integration, and optimization of the organization's LIMS environment across multiple laboratories and business units.

Key Responsibilities

IT Program Management Leadership

  • Establish and lead a centralized IT Program Management Office (PMO) with appropriate governance, processes, methodologies, and performance metrics.
  • Develop and maintain an enterprise-wide IT program portfolio aligned with strategic business priorities.
  • Establish program prioritization, resource allocation, governance, risk management, and executive reporting processes.
  • Provide executive oversight of major technology programs from business case development through implementation and post-deployment optimization.
  • Develop consistent project and program management standards across the organization.
  • Establish clear accountability for scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, dependencies, and benefits realization.
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of IT program and project management professionals.

LIMS Strategy & Transformation

  • Provide executive leadership for the organization's LIMS strategy and roadmap.
  • Lead major LIMS implementations, upgrades, migrations, consolidations, integrations, and global rollouts.
  • Evaluate opportunities to standardize LIMS platforms and processes across laboratories while accommodating legitimate business and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with laboratory leadership to identify opportunities to improve workflow, productivity, data quality, turnaround time, and customer experience through LIMS technology.
  • Ensure LIMS platforms integrate effectively with ERP, CRM, HRIS, MES, ELN, instrument systems, data platforms, customer portals, and other enterprise applications.
  • Establish governance around LIMS configuration, enhancements, integrations, master data, interfaces, and system lifecycle management.
  • Drive adoption of standardized laboratory processes and technology wherever appropriate.
  • Ensure technology solutions support laboratory accreditation, quality, traceability, auditability, and regulatory requirements.

Enterprise IT Transformation

  • Lead strategic technology transformation programs across the organization.
  • Develop multi-year technology roadmaps in partnership with the CIO and executive leadership.
  • Oversee complex programs involving application modernization, cloud migration, data and analytics, cybersecurity, infrastructure, automation, AI, and enterprise systems.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology to improve laboratory and business operations.
  • Establish business cases and ROI expectations for major technology investments.
  • Ensure successful integration of acquired businesses, laboratories, applications, and technology environments.

Business Partnership

  • Serve as a senior strategic partner to laboratory and business leadership.
  • Translate business requirements into practical technology programs and solutions.
  • Establish strong relationships with laboratory directors, operations leaders, Quality, Finance, Commercial, and other functional stakeholders.
  • Ensure IT programs address measurable business outcomes rather than simply technology implementation.
  • Facilitate executive decision-making around technology priorities, investments, risks, and resource requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive IT leadership and program management experience.
  • Significant experience leading large-scale, complex technology transformation programs.
  • Demonstrated experience with LIMS implementation, transformation, integration, or global deployment.
  • Experience leading multiple concurrent enterprise technology programs.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise applications, systems integration, data, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and technology architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience managing substantial technology budgets and third-party vendors.
  • Experience working directly with executive leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of PMO governance, program methodologies, financial management, risk management, and change management.
