I am working exclusively retained with NOMW Health to recruit a Hardware Engineer based in Edinburgh or Glasgow.

NOMW Health is an exciting start up health technology company that has developed an unobtrusive wearable device (LifeSavr) designed to detect and respond to opioid overdoses in real time.

The company was set up by brothers Ayub and Ali Shoaib, and NOMW stands for Not On My Watch, inspired by the founders witnessing healthcare access inequalities and are now on a mission to prevent drug related deaths.

NOMW have secured early backing and significant funding from sources including NHS SBRI, the UK Government, University of Edinburgh and Barclays Eagle Lab.

The LifeSavr prototype development is now complete, therefore they are looking to recruit an experienced Hardware Engineer to design, develop, debug, and bring compact, low-power medical, wearable, optical, and connected devices from concept to production.

What is in it for you?

  • Competitive salary
  • Flexible working
  • 28 days annual leave plus UK public holidays
  • Fantastic opportunity for fast career development - significant scope for progression as NOMW Health grows
  • Support for ambitious career progression, with a route to leading a hardware team
  • The opportunity to work on truly novel technology with global social impact

Responsibilities:

  • Electronics development from system architecture and component selection through schematic, PCB design, prototyping, validation, and production release
  • Design analog, digital, high-speed, mixed-signal, low-noise, power, RF, and embedded circuits
  • Develop precision sensor and optical signal-conditioning circuits using op-amps, photodiodes, LEDs, TIAs, filters, ADCs, and low-noise components
  • Design compact, high-density multi-layer PCBs with appropriate stack-up, grounding, return paths, impedance control, signal integrity, and power integrity
  • Develop ultra-low-power battery-operated systems, including charging, protection, fuel gauges, power-path management, DC/DC converters, LDOs, and power sequencing
  • Design and integrate Wi-Fi, BLE, LTE/LTE-M/NB-IoT, GNSS/GPS, MEMS/IMU, and other sensor interfaces

Experience required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics, Computer Engineering or a related discipline
  • 4+ years of relevant hands-on embedded electronics / hardware development experience
  • Schematic and PCB design experience for compact battery-powered products
  • Strong practical understanding of low-power design, sensor/analog interfaces, power integrity, MCU peripherals and board-level communication interfaces
