Childcare Trainer & Assessor - #2166471
Direct Partners Ltd
Direct Partners is a leading Edinburgh training provider delivering Modern Apprenticeships, pre-employment training and Skills for Work programmes across Scotland. We’re looking for a committed, proactive Childcare Trainer/Assessor to deliver Social Services Children and Young People (SCQF7) Modern Apprenticeships and Skills for Work programmes. You’ll guide learners from pre-employment preparation through to qualification and employment in the childcare sector, and support those already working in it. This role is available full-time or part-time, with a competitive salary based on experience, a flexible hybrid working model, company pension and professional development opportunities.
As a Childcare Trainer/Assessor, you’ll deliver engaging, in-person Pre-Employment Skills for Work programmes that create pathways into childcare careers, and support Modern Apprenticeship learners through every stage of their journey. You’ll carry out Initial Assessments and Inductions, schedule learner intakes, and manage progress through regular communication, Quarterly Progress Reviews and monthly SDS claims. You’ll work towards agreed learner start, retention and achievement targets, prepare for External Verification visits, and keep accurate, up-to-date learner records. You’ll also build effective partnerships with employers, travelling to carry out on-job observations in line with the SQA Assessment Strategy, and support wider team and contract delivery as needed.
You should hold SVQ3 (SCQF7) in Social Services Children and Young People/Playwork, or be willing to work towards it, and have experience delivering training or assessment in childcare or a related field. A strong understanding of Modern Apprenticeship frameworks and/or pre-employment programmes is important, as are excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills, confidence with digital systems and social media, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A clean driving licence is required.
In return, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, flexible hybrid working, company pension, professional development and qualifications, and a supportive, dynamic team. To apply, send your CV and a brief cover letter to [email protected] by Friday 30th October 2026. Early applications are encouraged, as we may close the vacancy early if a suitable candidate is found.
