The role is office-based, with the flexibility to work from home on agreed days once you have settled into the team. It is not a fully remote position.

Permanent Contract

Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Provide technical and analytical support to financial advisers across a range of client requirements.
  • Review existing client arrangements and gather relevant policy and investment information to ensure records are complete and accurate.
  • Research appropriate financial planning and investment solutions, considering client objectives, tax considerations, costs, risks and potential outcomes.
  • Work closely with advisers to develop and document suitable recommendations.
  • Prepare detailed suitability reports and shorter advice documents for specific or ad-hoc advice requirements.
  • Produce supporting illustrations, key features and other documentation required to accompany client recommendations.
  • Assist with the accurate implementation of recommendations, ensuring relevant documentation and compliance requirements are completed correctly.
  • Prepare valuations, analysis and cashflow modelling to support client review meetings and ongoing financial planning.
  • Support annual review processes by assessing the continued suitability of existing arrangements and ensuring client records remain up to date.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive client files, including relevant fact-finds, risk assessments, agreements and supporting documentation.
  • Attend client meetings when required, providing technical support, taking notes and assisting with cashflow presentations or modelling.
  • Keep an organised workflow and maintain visibility of outstanding reports and tasks.
  • Build effective working relationships with advisers, colleagues, clients and external providers.
  • Provide support and cover across the wider team when required.
  • Contribute to internal projects and initiatives aimed at improving processes, efficiency and client service.
  • Record and escalate errors or incidents appropriately and complete required compliance and training activities within agreed deadlines.
  • Participate in team meetings, training and professional development activities.

Requirements & Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is technically capable, organised and keen to continue developing within the financial planning profession.

Essential:

  • Minimum Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience working as a Paraplanner, with practical exposure to technical research and suitability report writing.
  • Understanding of the FCA ongoing suitability and annual review process.
  • Strong understanding of financial planning principles and the ability to research and analyse appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to maintaining client records and documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work to deadlines and take ownership of tasks through to completion.
  • Proactive approach, with the confidence to work independently and use initiative.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Xplan or another financial planning practice management system.
  • Familiarity with industry tools such as Voyant, FE Analytics and Selectapension.
  • Experience preparing cashflow models and supporting adviser-led client meetings.
  • Interest in progressing towards Level 6 qualifications and Chartered Financial Planner status.

You do not need to be Chartered or a senior Paraplanner. We are particularly interested in candidates who have established a solid foundation in paraplanning and are ready to build on their experience.

Benefits & Culture

You will join a supportive and collaborative environment where technical development, knowledge sharing and high standards of client service are valued.

The role offers:

  • A competitive salary of £32,000–£38,000, depending on experience and capability.
  • Hybrid working flexibility following an initial period of settling into the team.
  • Opportunities to develop your technical knowledge and progress your financial planning career.
  • Support for continued professional development and progression towards higher-level qualifications.
  • Exposure to a broad range of financial planning activities and client requirements.
  • A collaborative team environment with opportunities to work closely with experienced financial advisers and other financial planning professionals.
  • The opportunity to contribute to process improvements and wider business initiatives.

If you are an experienced Paraplanner who enjoys technical work, takes pride in producing high-quality client documentation and wants to continue developing within financial planning, this could be an excellent next step in your career.
