Tax Accountant – Compliance & Advisory

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Contract: Permanent, full-time

We are recruiting for a Tax Accountant to join an established accountancy practice in Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build on their existing practice experience, develop their technical tax knowledge and gain exposure to a varied portfolio of clients.

The successful candidate will be keen to learn, develop their expertise and progress their career within a supportive professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing personal tax returns and supporting related tax computations.
• Assisting with corporation tax compliance and submissions.
• Supporting tax planning and advisory projects for a varied client portfolio.
• Researching tax legislation and assisting with technical tax queries.
• Liaising with clients to gather information, resolve queries and provide updates.
• Supporting senior team members with more complex tax matters.
• Ensuring compliance work is completed accurately and within relevant deadlines.
• Keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation and HMRC requirements.
• Building strong client relationships and delivering a high standard of service.

About You

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is essential.
• Currently studying towards a relevant tax qualification, such as ATT or CTA, or actively working towards further tax examinations.
• Experience in personal tax compliance, with an interest in developing knowledge across corporation tax and advisory work.
• A genuine interest in tax planning and technical tax matters.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines.
• Good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• A proactive attitude and enthusiasm for continued professional development.
