Construction Solicitor / Associate | 4+ PQE

Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow

Firm: Leading Construction Team | Top Tier Scottish Firm

Salary: Generous Salary + Excellent Benefit

The Role & The Work

From large-scale property developments to major energy and infrastructure schemes, this opportunity offers a Construction Lawyer the chance to advise on projects with significant commercial value and practical impact. You will join an established, L500 ranked Construction team handling complex non-contentious matters for a broad client base, with work extending across the UK.

Your caseload will include the construction elements of property development and regeneration projects, covering development agreements, building contracts, bonds and guarantees, and professional appointments. You will also advise on engineering and infrastructure projects, particularly in the energy sector, with exposure to technologies including onshore wind, hydro, battery storage and solar.

From the outset, you will work alongside developers, contractors, public sector bodies, funders and consultants, gaining insight into the different priorities and commercial considerations that shape each project. Based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, you will have the opportunity to take on complex matters, build trusted client relationships and contribute to the team's wider business development.

Your Experience

  • A Scottish Qualified Solicitor with at least 4 years of relevant experience in non-contentious construction law.
  • Advising on construction contracts, development agreements, professional appointments and related documentation.
  • Have strong technical drafting skills and the confidence to manage matters with an appropriate level of autonomy.
  • Be commercially minded, with the ability to understand clients’ objectives and provide practical, solutions-focused advice.
  • Solid communication skills and enjoy building effective relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Interested in developing your client relationships and contributing to business development activities.
  • Be comfortable working collaboratively within a team while taking responsibility for your own matters and supporting junior colleagues where appropriate.

Why This Role?

  • Work on major property development, regeneration and engineering projects taking place across the UK, not just in Scotland.
  • Gain exposure to significant energy and infrastructure projects, including renewable energy developments.
  • Work with diverse client base spanning developers, contractors, funders, consultants and public sector organisations.
  • A clear opportunity to develop your technical expertise within an established and highly ranked Construction team.
  • You will always be encouraged to build client relationships and contribute to the continued development of the practice.
  • Have the benefit from working within a leading Scottish firm that offers a supportive, inclusive and collaborative environment.
  • Competitive remuneration and benefits alongside opportunities for continued professional development.
