Commercial Accountant - #2179962
COREcruitment Ltd
A newly created Commercial Accountant role supporting a portfolio of major stadia and event venues, with high-volume trading on event days.
You will own monthly reporting across multiple client contracts, keep revenue and cost controls tight, and act as the finance partner to venue heads of department. The role is hands-on and commercial: you will challenge overspends and event pre-costings, not just report on them. It suits someone who wants visibility with senior operators and clients, and room to grow within a larger finance team.
Key responsibilities
Reporting and analysis
- Prepare weekly, monthly and annual results across multiple contracts and service lines, internally and for clients.
- Review monthly performance with heads of department, highlighting key revenue and cost drivers and supporting their commentary before results are declared.
- Track contract KPIs and flag risks early enough for action to be taken before any breach.
- Produce contractual profit-share reporting and support audit packs and queries across the portfolio.
Budgeting and forecasting
- Work with the Commercial Finance Manager and operations to build and reconcile budgets and forecasts, and set targets and KPIs.
- Challenge event pre-costings so forecasts are realistic and margin is protected.
Controls and transactional finance
- Complete contract trading in line with the trading calendar, including accruals, prepayments and purchase invoices.
- Reconcile high volumes of cash and card transactions, supplier accounts and client debt.
- Manage external debt, refunds and credits within delegated authority, and ensure payments are allocated correctly in the ERP.
- Support operations on stock and labour controls, and keep cost controls tight on event days.
- Ensure working capital is managed effectively while safeguarding company assets.
Commercial and stakeholder
- Lead or support commercial projects that improve cost management and contract efficiency.
- Build working relationships with site teams, clients and peers across the wider business.
- Apply group finance policies and internal audit standards consistently.
What success looks like
- Weekly, monthly and annual reporting delivered accurately and on time, every period.
- Monthly packs that heads of department use to act, not just read.
- Budgets, forecasts and KPIs the operation can run the business on.
- Clean audit outcomes across the venue portfolio.
- Cost savings identified and contracts kept under control.

Desirable
- Management accounts, budgeting and forecasting experience.
