Job title: Principal Engineer - Java Microservices Developer

Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid)

Contract: 6 Months

Day Rate: £450 per day

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Principal Engineer to design, develop, and support secure, scalable, and high-performing software solutions. You will provide technical leadership, contribute to solution design, and work closely with Product Owners, Architects, and Engineering teams within an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java-based applications and microservices.
• Contribute to solution design and technical delivery.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
• Resolve production issues and ensure system reliability.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices.

• Java Spring Boot Microservices
• React Single Page Applications (SPA)
• PostgreSQL
• API Gateway technologies: TYK, Apigee, DataPower
• Cloud platforms: AWS, PCF, TAS
• Integration & batch tools: StreamSets, Airflow, ESP Services, GSS
• CI/CD, Agile delivery, and DevOps practices
