Take the next step in your Environmental Consultancy career
Are you an experienced Environmental Consultant looking for greater responsibility, more interesting projects and the opportunity to influence how environmental work is delivered?
We're supporting an established, multidisciplinary consultancy as they look to strengthen their Environmental team in Scotland with the appointment of a Principal or Associate Environmental Consultant.
This opportunity would suit someone with a strong background in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), environmental consenting and project delivery who enjoys taking ownership of projects, working closely with clients and supporting the development of other consultants.
You'll be joining a well-resourced team with a varied portfolio of projects spanning infrastructure, energy, development and the wider built environment, offering excellent opportunities to broaden your technical experience and progress your career.
The Opportunity
Working alongside environmental specialists, engineers and planning professionals, you'll play a leading role in managing environmental assessments and helping clients navigate complex environmental and regulatory requirements.
Depending on your experience and seniority, your responsibilities will include:
Managing and coordinating Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for a variety of development and infrastructure projects.
Providing specialist advice on environmental consenting, permitting and regulatory requirements.
Overseeing project delivery, including programme management, budgets, resources and technical outputs.
Working with multidisciplinary teams to identify environmental constraints and develop practical solutions.
Building strong working relationships with clients, statutory consultees and other project stakeholders.
Preparing and reviewing environmental reports, assessments and supporting documentation.
Contributing to proposals, tender submissions and the development of new project opportunities.
Providing technical guidance, mentoring and support to less experienced colleagues.
Supporting the continued development of the environmental consultancy offering.
At Associate level, there will also be opportunities to take on greater responsibility for client relationships, team development and the commercial performance of projects.
About You
We're interested in speaking with experienced environmental professionals who have developed their careers within consultancy or a closely related sector.
Ideally, you'll bring:
A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Geography, Planning or another relevant discipline.
Demonstrable experience delivering and coordinating Environmental Impact Assessments.
A good understanding of UK environmental legislation, consenting processes and regulatory frameworks.
Experience managing projects from initial proposal through to successful delivery.
Strong technical report-writing, reviewing and analytical skills.
Confidence working directly with clients and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
Experience contributing to bids, tenders and commercial proposals.
The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high technical standards.
Membership of a relevant professional institution, with chartership achieved or being worked towards.
Previous experience working on major infrastructure, energy, utilities or development projects would be particularly beneficial.
We're open to speaking with established Principal Consultants looking to move towards Associate level, as well as experienced Associates seeking a fresh challenge.
What's on Offer?
This is an opportunity to join a respected consultancy where you'll have the freedom to develop your career while working on technically challenging and varied projects.
Benefits include:
Competitive salary of £50,000 - £70,000 DOE (indicative).
Hybrid working and flexible working arrangements.
A varied portfolio of projects across Scotland and the wider UK.
Clear opportunities for career progression and professional development.
Support towards professional accreditation and chartership.
Opportunities to develop technical, commercial and leadership skills.
A comprehensive benefits package, including wellbeing and financial benefits.
The chance to work alongside experienced professionals across a range of environmental disciplines.
