Salary: £45,000 – £48,000 basic + overtime + call-out payments
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week + overtime

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Fire & Security Engineer to join a well-established and expanding engineering business, offering a competitive basic salary, excellent overtime rates, a generous benefits package and long-term career prospects.

Working from a base in Edinburgh, you'll be responsible for servicing and maintaining Fire & Security systems at commercial and industrial customer sites throughout Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Central Belt, with occasional travel further afield.

This position would suit a multi-skilled engineer who enjoys the technical challenge of fault-finding, working across different systems and managing their own workload. You'll be joining a supportive, experienced engineering team with access to ongoing technical training and the opportunity to develop your skills across additional systems and technologies.

Job Description

  • Carry out planned servicing, preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across a variety of Fire & Security systems.
  • Investigate, diagnose and resolve faults on fire alarms, CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and door entry systems.
  • Undertake small installation works, system upgrades and remedial repairs.
  • Attend customer sites independently, ensuring a high standard of service and workmanship.
  • Identify additional maintenance requirements and advise customers on necessary repairs or improvements.
  • Complete service records, risk assessments and associated engineering documentation.
  • Work in accordance with relevant industry standards, health and safety requirements and company procedures.
  • Participate in a 1-in-12 emergency call-out rota.

Person Specification

  • Proven experience working as a Fire & Security Service or Maintenance Engineer.
  • Strong technical knowledge of fire alarm systems, ideally combined with experience in CCTV, intruder alarms and access control.
  • Competent in fault-finding, servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Experience working with a variety of manufacturers and system types.
  • Knowledge of IP CCTV, networking and associated security technologies would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience with automated gates or barriers would be an advantage, although not essential.
  • Comfortable working independently, prioritising workloads and dealing directly with customers.
  • Professional, reliable and organised, with good communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Salary & Benefits

In return, our client offers an attractive remuneration package, including:

  • £45,000 – £48,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
  • Enhanced overtime: 1.5x for evenings and 2x for qualifying late and weekend work.
  • 1-in-12 call-out rota, with a £250 standby payment plus payment for hours worked.
  • Company van and fuel provided.
  • BUPA private healthcare.
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Laptop, mobile phone, tools and equipment provided.
  • Ongoing manufacturer and technical training.
  • Opportunities for career development within a growing engineering business.

This is an excellent opportunity for a capable Fire & Security Engineer looking for a stable, permanent role with a strong basic salary, additional earning potential and the opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of systems and customers.
