Quantitative Risk Analyst - #2188136

My client in the energy trading space is currently looking for a Quantitative Risk Analyst within their team. This role is based in Edinburgh so you'll need to be located in or around this area or open to relocation.

Core responsibilities:

• Build power models from scratch to inform pricing, valuation and trading decisions
• Work closely with traders to turn market questions into practical, robust quantitative solutions
• Develop and automate analytical tools and processes to support the trading desk
• Apply risk knowledge to help shape trading decisions
• Contribute to the continued growth of the team’s modelling capability

Required profile and technical skills:

• Power modelling expertise: hands-on experience building power models from scratch, not just maintaining or tweaking existing ones
• Technical depth: strong Python and SQL skills and a solid coding background, with the confidence to build and automate your own analytical tools
• Risk experience: a background in risk within a trading environment
• Commodities: primarily physical power experience, though LNG or gas exposure is also welcome
• Bonus: fundamental modelling experience, such as modelling supply, demand and market drivers to inform price views
