Contracts and Procurement Lawyer – East Herts District Council


Total remuneration up to £62,169 per annum!


£48,460 - £58,669 per annum, plus £3,500 market supplement


Location: Remote working!


Venn Group is delighted to be partnering with East Herts District Council to recruit a Contracts and Procurement Lawyer to join its Legal Services team. About the Role


As the council’s Contracts and Procurement Lawyer, you will:



  • Deliver high-quality, solution-focused legal advice on a broad range of complex contract and procurement matters

  • Lead on high-value infrastructure, construction, and services contracts including contract disputes and drafting of tender documentation

  • Act as the council’s lead legal negotiator for contracts and procurement

  • Ensure compliance with procurement regulations, governance frameworks and internal procedures

  • Support strategic transformation projects and contribute to the continuous development of the council’s legal service

About You


To succeed in this role, you will need:



  • A qualification as a solicitor, barrister, or legal executive with a current practising certificate (or eligibility for one)

  • Strong working knowledge of contract and procurement law within a public sector context

  • Experience handling a varied caseload including EU-level procurement contracts, contract disputes, and drafting complex documentation

  • Confidence in advising senior officers and elected members on strategic legal matters

  • A proactive, solutions-led approach with excellent communication and analytical skills
