Are you ready to kickstart or elevate your electrical career with a company that’s building the future of infrastructure and energy?

At OCU Group, we’re looking for an ambitious, hands-on Electrical Improver to join our fast-growing team based in Neath, South Wales. This role isn’t your typical 9–5 — it’s your chance to get stuck into exciting projects across the UK, so the ability and willingness to travel is essential.

Whether you’re experienced in industrial environments like UKPN, National Grid, SPEN, or just starting out in your journey and eager to learn — we want to hear from you!

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Installing and maintaining cable containment systems (tray, ladder etc.)

  • Gladding, terminating & testing SWA cables

  • Control panel wiring and electrical fault-finding

  • Supporting HV/LV installations & maintenance

  • Working closely with engineers and project teams to deliver excellence

  • Promoting and maintaining a strong health & safety culture

  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics

  • Supporting national projects — travel is part of the adventure!

What We’re Looking For

We’re open on experience — if you’re reliable, eager to grow, and love solving problems, we’re listening. Some skills that would help you hit the ground running:

  • Experience in an electrical improver role or relevant industry knowledge

  • Understanding of safe systems of work within substations

  • Confidence using tools, interpreting drawings, and working independently or as part of a team

  • Relevant certs like EUSR, Confined Space, IPAF, PASMA are a bonus

  • Any DNO or HV experience? That’s a big plus!

Why Join OCU Group?

We’re not just another contractor — we’re on a mission to lead the UK’s energy transition. With backing from private equity and exciting projects ahead, there’s huge opportunity for you to grow your skills, career, and impact here.

  • Clear development paths & training

  • Work with experienced professionals & top-tier clients

  • Be part of a business closing in on a £1 billion turnover

  • A people-first culture that values integrity, growth, and delivery

Don’t Have Every Requirement?

That’s okay! If you're excited about the role and feel you’d thrive at OCU, we still want to hear from you. We’re all about potential, passion, and a positive attitude.

Be part of the UK’s energy evolution. Grow with us. Travel with us. Build the future with us.
