Job Description Group Finance Accountant Location Edinburgh :


This role will involve ensuring accurate financial data is entered into the ERP system used within ESR Europe. Additional tasks include assisting the Group Finance Manager with the month end processes, as well we helping with the annual audit and tax returns.


Key Responsibilities:


ERP System and month end deliverables



  • Review all invoice allocations within the system

  • Prepare or review journals - both manual entries and system generated journals

  • Help build robust balance sheet reconciliation processes to ensure comfort over the numbers in the ERP

  • Download trial balances for all group companies, and prepare commentary on the month on month/year on year movements

  • Help prepare the consolidated ESR Europe results, and month end pack for ESR Group reporting


Other Responsibilities:



  • Help with the year end audit process, including drafting financial statements and preparing packs for the auditors

  • Working with the tax advisors to prepare and file the annual corporation tax returns

  • Help to draft the VAT returns


Success Outcomes:



  • Building a good understanding of the business and be able to use this to ensure accuracy within the ERP System

  • Take ownership of several parts of the month end process

  • Proactively help on any ESR Group, auditor or tax advisor questions

  • Learn from, and be able to deputise for, the Group Finance Manager where relevant

  • Be able to suggest process and control improvements

  • Develop a good working relationship with the other members of the Group Finance team, ensuring cross training to reduce key person dependencies.


Requirements



  • Recently qualified accountant (CA/ACA/ACCA), ideally with a background in financial services

  • Experience of preparing management accounts or financial statements preferable

  • Upper second university degree or above

  • A high attention to detail and an analytical ability to investigate and provide insights and resolve discrepancies

  • Excellent team player with clear and concise communication contributing new ideas with confidence

  • Experience with NetSuite preferable

  • Experience of creating and generating automated reports from underlying systems

  • Ability to deliver under tight timescales in a fast-paced environment

  • Track record of automation and process improvement

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Highly competent user of Excel

  • Proficient in the use of PowerPoint and Word.
