RPS is looking for Town Planners to join our National Development & Infrastructure Planning Team based Edinburgh. The range of work on offer is wide and varied and will provide you with rich experience in town planning. Working alongside a range of multi-disciplinary services within a team of planning experts, you will have the opportunity to aid and deliver on a broad range of planning applications including residential, mixed-use developments, data centres, airports, retail, logistics and major infrastructure projects.

What You Will Be Doing

You will be assisting our strategic planning work, which includes coordinating planning, S36, S37, Marine and EIA submissions in relation to large scale, national level, renewable energy and infrastructure projects.

  • Assisting Planning Directors’ in successfully delivering their planning caseload, including preparing Planning Statements coordinating other environmental specialisms, contributing to consenting strategies, offering bespoke Scottish planning advice to clients
  • Developing your written and oral communication techniques
  • Directly engaging in our business development initiatives
  • Actively assisting our Assistant Planners, Graduates and Apprentices
  • Contributing/ engaging in our Prospects Planning Group

Who We Are Looking For

  • Chartered membership of the RTPI (or close to /on track for achieving this)
  • Experience in a planning consultancy or local government role, preferably in Scotland but not essential
  • Aptitude to work to established time frames
  • A keen interest in planning, development, and environmental issues
  • A good working knowledge of (preferably Scottish) planning policy
  • Attention to detail and a proactive mindset
  • A strategic thinker and someone who can readily address problems
  • A market awareness and a good knowledge of local and national planning issues in Scotland
