Job purpose
THIS IS AN ENTRY LEVEL POSITION INTENDED FOR A RECENT SCHOOL OR COLLEGE LEAVER LOOKING TO START IN THE WORLD OF WORK.

An award-winning independent travel agency based in Edinburgh with over 30 years in business is looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious Modern Apprentice to join their Accounts team.
Their experienced team boast a combined experience of over 200 years in travel offering a personalised, professional and bespoke service for all client travel requirements.
Please note that this role has an initial contract of 14 months but there is an opportunity for a permanent role following this for the right candidate.
You will be working within the accounts team and learning to understand the back office system. The role is highly transactional and 90% of the day would be spent adding invoices received from suppliers into the account systems for customers to pay.
Main Duties Include
Raising invoices for clients - this is a huge part of the job as we are a highly transactional business
Allocation of payments and remittances
Reconciliation of bank statements and credit card statements
Chasing suppliers for invoices
Using back office accounts system BOSS (which is a travel-specific system)
Using Microsoft applications word, excel etc
Interaction with our operations team for invoicing
Reports for the management team
Reports for our accountants throughout the year and at the year end
Supporting with cash flow projections
The remaining part of the time would be telephoning suppliers chasing up invoices and;
General administrative duties
Filing, photocopying and scanning documents
Handling the mail
Answering the telephone and assisting clients with invoice queries
Assisting the reservations team by liaising with hotels and suppliers
Processing financial information such as client invoices
Facilitating payments and ensuring overdue payments are followed up
Along with the duties in your role, you will undertake a Level 6 SVQ in Business and Administration and will be supported throughout.
You will learn how to communicate with team members, clients and external partners to provide a high level of customer service.
The most important qualities to possess are to be hardworking, reliable and enthusiastic to learn.
Our Client Is Also Looking For
National 5s and above, including Maths and English is preferrable
Excellent communication skills and IT skills
Customer-focused work experience would be beneficial but is not essential
Organisation and ability to multitask
