The Financial Crime Monitoring and Assurance Manager is a management role with day-to-day responsibility for maintenance of the independent financial crime assurance framework, development, tracking and progress reporting on annual financial crime assurance plans and development of supporting methodologies.

Financial crime responsibilities:

  • Define and maintain the Financial Crime Assurance Framework in line with Risk Management Framework and Assurance Standard.
  • Define, plan and execute quality control (“QC”) and quality assurance (“QA”) checks over Group 2LoD Financial Crime and UK 2LoD and develop supporting methodologies.
  • Define, plan and execute independent financial crime controls testing activities over the Group 2LoD financial crime controls as part of risk and controls-self assessment (“RCSA”) for the Group Financial Crime Function.
  • Plan, track and report progress of execution of assurance activities over internal and external 2LoD financial crime functions, and Business Unit 1LoD financial crime functions in the UK and globally, where delegated.
  • Define, review and maintain the framework for 2LoD financial crime thematic assurance over 1LoD, and associated methodologies.
  • Develop, maintain and execute the assurance plan for 2LoD financial assurance over 1LoD.
  • Oversee the closure of 1LoD actions arising from 2LoD financial crime assurance over 1LoD.
  • Plan, track and report progress of execution of financial crime risk model validation.
  • Check and challenge the execution of all assurance activities performed by Group 2LoD Financial Crime.
  • Develop relevant financial crime control test scripts.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Support team members in the Monitoring and Assurance team in managing their responsibilities.
  • Build collaborative relationships with Group and local Internal Audit stakeholders as well as Business Unit 1LoD financial crime teams responsible for 1LoD assurance.
  • Other tasks and activities within the scope of your role or team as required from time to time.

Skill requirements:

  • Experience within financial crime and being able to demonstrate deep understanding of the financial crime risks inherent in the asset management and or insurance sectors.
  • Experienced in assisting in the design and execution of control testing and assurance programmes for financial crime risk management.
  • Experienced in assisting in the design and execution of ongoing thematic reviews on financial crime controls and processes and in identifying improvement needs.
  • Experienced in preparing reports on monitoring outcomes for senior management including MLRO, governance committees and leadership team.
  • Experienced in assisting with regulatory audits or internal audits or compliance reviews.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and demonstrates the ability to assess complex processes, identify control weaknesses, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • The ability to operate effectively to proactively engage with stakeholders to overcome barriers to delivery of robust reporting.
