Senior Environmental Manager (EIA)

Help shape the future of the UK's energy transition.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Environmental Manager (EIA) to join a leading energy infrastructure developer delivering a growing portfolio of renewable energy, battery storage and data centre projects across the UK.

This is a senior role within the development team, responsible for leading Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) activities across major infrastructure projects and ensuring environmental considerations are embedded throughout the development lifecycle.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Planning, you will take ownership of environmental workstreams across multiple projects, managing consultant teams, engaging with key stakeholders and driving best practice in sustainable development.

You'll have the opportunity to influence project design from the earliest stages, support project consenting strategies and contribute to wider environmental and ESG initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead consultant teams through all stages of the EIA process, including screening, scoping and EIA Report production.
  • Coordinate environmental inputs across large-scale energy and infrastructure developments.
  • Undertake technical reviews of specialist environmental assessments, including ecology, noise, landscape and air quality.
  • Support projects from origination through to consent and delivery.
  • Work closely with regulators, statutory consultees and external stakeholders.
  • Promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement across project portfolios.
  • Contribute to project budgeting, programme management and risk mitigation.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior environmental professionals.

About You

You will be a highly motivated environmental professional with strong technical expertise and a passion for delivering sustainable infrastructure projects.

Essential experience and skills:

  • Significant experience coordinating and managing Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Strong understanding of Scottish and UK environmental and planning legislation.
  • Experience working on major infrastructure, energy or renewable energy projects.
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong report writing and technical review capabilities.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of project risk management.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Geography or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Environmentalist status (or working towards chartership).
  • Full membership of IEMA or an equivalent professional body.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a highly respected developer operating at the forefront of the UK's energy transition. You'll work on nationally significant projects, collaborate with industry-leading professionals and play a key role in delivering infrastructure that supports a net-zero future.
