Location: Vantage Point, 24 St John’s Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6NZ / Hybrid - with travel between services.

We are seeking a Head of People who will be responsible for our human resources and learning & development functions, ensuring our people-focused policies, procedures and practice are at the heart of what we do.
Reporting to the Director of Finance & Resources, the successful candidate will be a credible source of HR expertise, who can collaborate with all levels of management. As a member of our Leadership Team, you will be an advocate for inclusivity, championing a culture that encourages everyone to be the best they can be. You will be passionate about people, shaping our policies and practices to ensure Capability Scotland is the employer of choice.
What you get to do:
- Design, develop and deliver an improved employee experience through the effectiveness of human resources processes
- Develop and deliver our People Strategy and action plans, leading to Investors in People Gold accreditation
- Lead the people change management aspects of organisational development projects
- Lead the ongoing development of our HR system, iTrent, improving people data availability and analysis across the organisation
- Design, maintain and publish HR performance reports and analytics to all levels of Capability Scotland management.
- Lead the Human Resources team, ensuring sound HR information and support is provided to management teams.
- Lead the development and delivery of L&D provision including on-line training provision
- Lead the Corporate Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Agenda supporting all statutory reporting and PSED requirements.
What you bring:
- CIPD-Qualified Professional with a proven track record in a complex environment
- Inclusive, collaborative and approachable leadership
- A proactive approach, working as a credible source of expertise for staff, senior management and trustees
- Experience using HR data to develop organisational and departmental insights to inform decision-making and effect change.
- Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities on multiple simultaneous projects.
- Strong communication skills and agile thinking; contributing strategically to organisational-wide developments and projects
- The ability to navigate ‘grey’ and across silos to create clarity and alignment
- A passion to influence and develop people-focused policies and procedures
